I help companies and individuals keep their data safe
The value of securing your data
It's 2024. By now you know the value of securing your data. But here are some reasons and examples anyway.
Prevent the theft of your identity, credit abuse, and other fraudulent activity that can harm you in the real world
Threat actors want your data because it can help them make money
Take steps to protect your data and keep your identity intact
With consumers having accounts and data pretty much everywhere, breaches are bound to happen.
Do a few small things, so that when disaster does occur, the impact to you is minimized.
Use password managers
Enable that annoying multi-factor authentication (do it)
Perform backups of your data
Sleep better at night (if you want to)
All of the above is an over-simplification of threats and risks as well as preventative measures.
But, after spending 8 years attacking organizations for money (ethical hacking in a Consulting role, promise) and helping clients and individuals secure their data and information assets, I have learned that security needs to be for everyone.
While it does impact us all in complex ways, it needs to be simplified.
My best onetwo-liner advice is this:
Do what you can with what you have - but don't ignore data security until it is too late. It is better to be slightly inconvenienced now by waiting for a mobile MFA token than it is to have a breached account and lose company or personal data.
